We are Year 6. We are taught by Mr Thompson. We are sometimes taught by Mrs Wilkinson. We are supported by Miss Gleghorn.
To ensure development for all, our children regularly take part in interventions. These include: reading, Lexia, maths, and spelling.
The homework is given to the children on a weekly basis. This is set on Google Classroom, and all the children know how to access this. It is handed out on Friday and is to be returned on a Thursday. The children are given maths and English homework, as well as their Accelerated Reader book which is to be read on a daily basis and written in the child’s reading diary 3 times a week. The children can also do any additional work of their choice based on what we are studying in any of our school subjects.
The children complete Statutory Assessment Tests at the end of Year 6. These tests assess their level of learning throughout the whole of Key Stage 2. These tests take place at the beginning of May.
Over the course of a week, the children sit a reading test; a Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling test; a separate Spelling test; an arithmetic test and 2 Maths reasoning tests.
To support your child at home there are various websites that you can use. Some of my favourites are:
